During construction operations on the City Project (2002 NW Commercial Park Improvements —
SEH No. A-ALBEV 0113.00), SEH surveyors discovered a 0.5-foot elevation discrepancy
between like points staked by RLK- Kuusisto survey crews and SEH survey crews; the relative
elevation of points staked by RLK are 0.5-foot higher than those staked by SEH. After further
investigation it was determined that the RLK-Kuusisto Project (Albertville Business Park) was
designed and staked using benchmarks from the NGVD 29 vertical datum. The official City
benchmarks are taken from the NAVD 88 vertical datum.
Rather than require the redesign and restaking of the Albertville Business Park project using the
NAVD 88 datum and per the request of RLK-Kuusisto, the City will accept a field modification
to the road grade between stations 18+50 and 20+50 and a field modification of the sanitary
sewer grade between SANMH-33 and SANMH-34, in order to transition each to the City Project
at Station 21+00. Note, the full structural street section shown on the plans is still required in the
street grade transition area, and the modified pipe grade shall be no less than the planned grade.
Despite the City's willingness to accommodate RLK-Kuusisto in this datum discrepancy, the
City will require that all record drawing elevations be per the City datum (NAVD 88).
