RE: Cleaning of County Ditch No.9
Dear Mr. Asleson:
-- - - -
In following with my letter to you dated December 29, 1997, I ain fQr;arding Ditch Cleanout Plans.
Field data of origin~ ditch bottom elevations is included on the plan. A tot~ of six borings were
completed. The locations of soil borings is shown on the plan view with elevations, noted in the
profile view.
Attached is a copy of a letter dated January 7, 1998 from the company that performed the soil
borings, Independent Testing Technologies. The letter summarizes their findings and includes
detailed field data obtained.
We believe the soil boring data obtained verifies that the ditch cleanout as proposed will restore the
ditch function to that of its origin~ construction.
Please forward your approv~ of the proposed ditch cleanout to Mr. Don Jensen, Pilot Land
Development Company, 13736 N.E. Johnson Street, Ham Lake, ~ 55304.. If you have any
questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,
MEYER-ROHLIN, INe.

RE: 97-483 Drainage Ditch Siltation Evaluation
County Ditch #9, Albertville, Minnesota
Dear Mr. Jensen:
As requested and authorized by you, Independent Testing Technologies recently
conducted six hand auger probes along County Ditch #9 in Albertville, Minnesota. The
purpose of our probes was to determine the depth of siltation or the depth to the original
ditch bottom.
The probes were conducted on December 30 and 31, 1997. The probes were all
conducted in the bottom of the ditch through the ice and water. The probes were
conducted using a 3-inch bucket auger. Soil types were classified by examining the
material in the auger. The probes were taken to depths adequate to determine that native,
undisturbed soils were reached.
The probes generally encountered organic silt, muck, and peat to depths of 9 to 17 inches.
This material represents decaying vegetation mixed with silt. Probes #2 and #6
encountered disturbed silty sands and clayey sands to depths of 15 inches and 21 inches,
respectively. This material is probably material washed into the ditch or material
disturbed during prior excavations. Below the organic muck and / or silty deposits, all of
the borings encountered what appeared to be native, inorganic, sandy lean clays to
tennination.

Offset stakes were set at the sides of the ditch with depths to the ditch bottom. The
depths of soil types shown on the enclosed summary are depths below the bottom of the
ditch. See the summary for exact depths.
Mr. Jensen, it had been our pleasure to be of service to you on this project. Please feel
free to contact me if you have any questions regarding this letter or the scope of services
we provided.
Sincerely,
/ JiJ ajL
