Re: 2006 County Ditch No.9 Flood Study
City of Albertville
BMI Project No. T15.21766
Honorable Mayor and City Council Members:
Transmitted herewith is the 2006 County Ditch No.9 Flood Study. The study analyzes the recent
flooding that has occurred within the County Ditch 9 watershed, the hydraulic design of developments
within the watershed, and the 2004 Flood Study Report.
We have modeled the watershed to simulate existing conditions and have developed design alternatives to
address the flooding issues. The stormwater model shows that a 100-year, 24-hour, storm event will
cause flooding of homes in the Albert Villa Additions.
The study identifies additional storage volume, for the excess stormwater, upstream of the Albert Villas
development as the most feasible solution to the flooding. It is our recommendation that, when possible,
the City of Albertville secure land and construct a detention basin(s) to provide the storage necessary to
mitigate the flooding condition.
Mark Kasma, William Douglass and myself will be at your April 17 , 2006, City Council Meeting to
present this study and will be glad to address questions at any time.
Respectfully Submitted,
