For use in
municipal water systems,
.J.lrelines and other
.itical services.
Strength
Class 100, 150 and 200 Blue Brute water
pipes have long-term hydrostatic
strength that meet the commonly
accepted high safety requirements of
municipal water systems. Blue Brute
conforms to cast iron O.O.'s and is
available in 4", 6", 8", 10" and12" sizes
in Class 1 00, 150, and 200.
Meets AWWA C900
Underwriters Laboratories and NSF 61
Listed, Factory Mutual Approved.
J-M Manufacturing's Blue Brute
Class 150 and 200 PVC water pipes
are listed for critical use in firelines
and water mains and are F/M approved.
Blue Brute Class 100 is intended for
water mains.
~ht weight
foot length of Class 150, 8" Blue
..te water pipe weighs approximately
181 pounds. That makes it easy to load,
easy to transport and easy to handle.
Installers prefer it because it goes into the
ground quickly - thus saving on
installation costs.
Long laying lengths
A standard laying length of Blue Brute
PVC water pipe is 20 feet. That means
you can cover a lot of ground during
installation. At the same time, you
eliminate the cost of unnecessary joints.
.
Corrosion resistance
Blue Brute is unaffected by electrolytic or
galvanic corrosion, or any known soil or
water condition. You don't have to worry
about tuberculation, or the need for costly
lining, wrapping, coating or cathodic
protection.
Quality control
Without exception, each length of pipe is
hydrostatically tested and subject to
inspection by our quality control
inspectors throughout every step of the
manufacturing process.
Flow capacity
This PVC water pipe has a smooth
interior that stays smooth over long years
of service with no loss in carrying
capacity. Its coefficient of flow is C = 150
(H&W) - the best available in common
use in water systems. This capacity often
allows savings in pumping costs as well
as savings on the size of pipe required.
Field cutting
You can cut Blue Brute with a powersaw
or an ordinary handsaw. It eliminates the
need to invest in costly cutting equipment.
r
\~
Service life
Because it is nonmetallic, the pipe does
not lose strength due to either potable
water corrosion or external galvanic or
soil corrosion. And its design includes a
surge allowance for a 2 ft./sec. stoppage
of flow.
Ring-Tite joints with
factory installed rings
Blue Brute's Ring-Tite joint can be
assembled quickly. Seated in a deep
groove, the flexible elastomeric ring
provides a tight seal that protects the
line from shock, vibration, earth move-
ment and compensates for expansion
and contraction of pipe lengths. And
there's no field miXing or application
of cement. It's a simple push-together
joint that remains tight under normal
operating conditions.

DUAL. WAll PIPE
Uses:
High volume drain needs such as gravity storm
sewers, culverts, highway drains, golf courses,
agricultural mains and other fluid transfer
applications
Description:
Plain End Pipe, Smooth Interior, Corrugated Exterior, Requires Split
Couplers, Long Term Durability, Superior Flow Rates
'The Gold Stripe is
your guarantee of
quality!"
- Larry Groen
Prinsco General
Manager
Bottom Line Benefits:
Easy to Handle + Lightweight = Faster Installations and Smaller Crews
Unaffected By FreezelThaw Cycle + Does Not Rust or Corrode =
Uncompromising Durability and Strength
Prinsco's GOLDFL()@ Dual-Wall pipe with a plain end enjoys the same great characteristics as
GOI.DFI.O WTTM . Its corrugated exterior combined with the smooth interior wall gives GOI.DFI.()@ the
strength and flow characteristics to complete any high volume drainage application.
GOLDFL()@ can be coupled by several means. Typical installations of GOLDFI.()@ will use a soil-tight
split coupler to connect each length of pipe. Another option is a silt-tight coupler that employs a foam
gasket to prohibit silt infiltration into the pipe. A watertight sleeve coupler provides a third choice when
coupling GOI.DFL()@ plain end. Each ofthese coupling options will give you a fast and simple
installation, yet retaining the strength and flow rates you expect from GOI.DFI.()@.
As with GOI.DFI.O WTTM , GOI.DFI.O@ Dual-Wall Polyethylene Pipe is your best choice for long-term
durability. It is chemical and abrasion resistant. It will not rust, corrode or deteriorate under freeze-thaw
cycles. GOLDFLOO also exceeds AASHTO M 252, AASHTO M 294, ASTM F 405, AND ASTM F 667
requirements for dual-wall polyethylene pipe, with a Manning's "n" value of 0.012.

SDR 35 (PS46) FITTING SPECIFICATIONS
GPK pvc Sewer Fittings shall be manufactured in accordance with either ASTM D 3034, F 1336 or
F 679. The PVC material shall have a minimum cell classification of 12454-B, 12454-C or 12364-C as
defined in ASTM D 1784.
The purpose of GPK in-line fittings is to convey municipal sanitary 'and industrial wastes, storm water
run-off and many other related applications. They are designed to be used in gravity flow and low
pressure applications not to exceed 10.8 psI.
3.0 Injection Molded Fittings are produced in sizes 4' through 8' diameter. Fabricated Fittings are
produced in sizes 4' through 27' diameter. A fabricated fitting is considered any fitting made from
pipe or a combination of pipe and molded components.
4.0 Chemical Resistance. GPK fittings resist attack from certain alcohols, alkalies, salt solutions, acids and
other types of chemicals. Refer to chemical resistance chart.
5.0 Marking. GPK fittings shall be marked with applicable size, 'PVC', company name or logo, PSM and
the ASTM specification number (D 3034, F 1336 or F 679). The fittings and/or packaging shall include
the manufacturer's date and shift code.
6.0 Testing. A test after installation of either low pressure air (Uni-B-6) or a water infiltration-exfiltration
test is recommended.
7.0 Deflection Test. The maximum allowable pipe fitting deflection should be 7 1/2% of base ID as
shown in Table XLI of D 3034.
8.0 Backfilling and Tamping. Backfilling should follow closely after assembly of pipe and fittings.
.
8.1
Backfilling with proper material is important to achieve desired density in haunching
area which enables pipe, fitting and soil to work together to meet designed load
requirements. This eliminates excess deflectiqn and shear breaks due to heavy loads.
Approved material shall be used properly, compacted continuously above and around
the pipe and fittings as well as between the fitting and trench' wall. A cushion of approved
material up to a minimum of 12' over the fittings and between the trench walls shall be
applied in accordance, with the engineers' specifications.
8.2 Tamping. This shall be done by hand tamping of the embedment material betwef~n the
trench wall of the service line fitting and riser connection. Tamping can also be done by
mechanical tampers or by using water to consolidate the embedment material. Extreme
unstable ground conditions may require wider trenches to enable you to compact a
larger area around the pipe and fittings to the density consistent of the original ground
surface conditions.
9.0 Service Lines. Normally, service lines from the property line to the collection sewer should be a
minimum depth of 3 feet at the property line and should be laid in straight alignment and uniform
slopEl of not less than 1/4' per foot for 4' nominal pipe and 1/8' per foot for 6' pipe. Where collection
sewers are deeper than 7 feet a vertical standpipe of stack is permitted. Deep sewer chimney and
risers necessitate extreme. care during backfilling. Where surface loading is anticipated the final
backfill must be compacted to a density compatible with those surface loads to be encountered.
9.1
.
SUMMARY:
296
Backfilling around pipe service laterals on slope. Extra attention should be given on
slopes to prevent the newly backfilled trench from becoming a 'French Drain.' Before
backfilling compietely there is a tendency for ground and surface water to follow the
direction of the looser soil. This flow may wash out soil from under or around pipe and
branch line fittings, reducing or eliminating the support needed. To avoid this problem
the backfilling should be of greater compaction. Tamping should be done in 4' layers
and continued in this manner all the way up to ground or surface line of the trench.
Concrete collars or other concrete poured around the fitting to stabilize unwanted
movement is recommended to prevent water from undercutting the underside of the pipe
and fittings.
Due to various ground conditions and different situations, installation techniques vary widely.
We warranty our products to be free of manufacturer's defects. We wiil not replace the
products that are Installed or used Incorrectly. The design of the systems that our product is
used in Is a factor that cannot be overlooked.

Re: Fluorocarbon VS. Core Blue
. The fluorocarbon coating that is used on our T -head bolt is a coating that is equal to or
superior to the Core Blue. Core Blue is not a coating type. It is a trade name used by my
competitor to specify their fluorocarbon-coated bolt from their plain bolt. The only
difference between the coating on our bolts and theirs is the manufacturer of the coating.
Any specifications written that calls out Core Blue is referring to either my competitors
coated bolt or my coated bolt. Please direct any questions or concerns about this matter
from anyone writing or meeting specifications for jobs or municipalities to me for
clarification.
Sincerely,

METROSEAL@ 250
Resilient Seated Gate Valves 3" - 16"
INTRODUCTION
The 3"-16" METROSEAL 250 Valves featured in this publication are rated at 250 psi.
They conform fully to ANSI/AWWA C509 Resilient-Seated Gate ~Jves For f.%ter Supply
Service and ANSI/AWWA C550 Protective Epoxy Interior Coatings For ~Jves And
Hydrants. The body, bonnet and gate are Ductile Iron, instead of gray iron (3" gates are
bronze) .
TYPICAL APPLICATIONS
FOR METROSEALREDUCED WALL VALVES
General
METROSEAL 250 Resilient-Seated Gate Valves are designed for use in
virtually any type of buried or above-ground service for water transmission or distribution
lines, sewer force mains and certain types of industrial service within the operating
pressure range of the valve. The greatest use is in buried service where low cost, positive
and reliable shutoff and minimum maintenance are important requirements. Resilient
Seated Gate Valves generally operate fully opened/fully closed, although METROSEAL 250
Valves may be operated in the throttling mode when required.
Buried Service
METROSEAL 250 Valves are designed for buried service. It is not necessary to install
them in a vault or manhole as is appropriate for other types of valves where
maintenance is required and frequent repairs may be necessary. Years of experience have
demonstrated that resilient-seated gate valves rarely require maintenance and are typically
buried underground without the need for access. Buried valves are normally installed in
the vertical position and actuated through a standard valve box by a T-Handle operating
wrench (or power operator) which engages the 2" square operating nut. For shallow
depths of cover, 16" valves may be installed in the horizontal position and
activated through a bevel gear unit mounted on the valve. Buried service valves are
specified with mechanical joints or TYTON ]oint@ Pipe when used with pipe having
Ductile Iron pipe outside diameters.

Interior or Above Ground Service
METROSEAL 250 Valves with flanged joints are used for this type of service, particularly in water and
sewage treatment plants, industrial use, pump stations, meter pits, etc. Flanged valves are
furnished with ANSI/AWWA C115/A21.15 standard flange drilling, which will also connect to
ANSI/AWWA C207 Class D steel flanges and ASME BI6.1, Class 125 flanges. Flanged gaskets 1/8"
thick should be used. U.S. Pipe's FLANGE-TYTE@ Gasket is recommended.
The METRO SEAL 250 Valve is suitable for any position of installation: vertical, horizontal, flat or
angled. If sediments are present, care should be taken that the bonnet is not in a position to
collect sediments which could interfere with operation of the valve. Gear operators can be rotated as
required.
VALVE GEARING
METROSEAL 250 Valves operate with considerably less torque than double disc metal-seated gate valves
and may be operated without gearing at normal operating pressures. It is recommended you consult
with our Valve and Hydrant Sales Office if gearing is specified.
When specified, valves can be supplied with bevel gearing. Gear operators are the totally enclosed type,
oil filled and designed for buried and submerged service. Gear housings are Ductile Iron. Gears are steel
and pinion shafts are stainless steel. Shaft bearings are Teflon with "0" Ring seals.

CAUTION: Neither push-on products assembled with TYTON@ Gaskets nor mechanlcaljoint products assembled with standard
accessories as detailed in ANSII AWWA C 1111 A21.11 provide any degree of restraint against joint separation. While the configuration
in which such products are assembled may in and of itself offer some degree of such restraint, our push-on joints with TYTON Gaskets
or mechanlcaljoints with standard accessories provide ABSOLUTELY NO RESISTANCE TO JOINT SEPARATION. The user
must either ensure that restraint is not needed when using our push-on or standard mechanical joint products, or, if there is any
question, he must consult a qualified engineer.
If the application to which a push-on joint product is being placed requires restraint, U.S. Pipe recommends the use of FIELD LOK@
Gaskets or TR FLEX@ Pipe, Fittings or Valves-consult with your local U.S. Pipe representative. For mechanlcaljoint connections,
various restraint devices are available and the user should consult their manufacturer.
