FIRST PLAN REVIEW Dear Ms. K pke: PAGE 19 1r�T ti i � lD�tSi�Tls C011ftkr p �rP7I6ry We have reviewed the plans received on July 9t', 1998, for the above -referenced project, and offer the foiiowing comments_ • This project adds a temporary stead end watermain 2,375 feet in length. The main tine that runs through the project will not be looped until such time as watermain is eonstrracted, as part Of Mure projects, either to the east or west and then back to the south across 1-35. This once again raises the tornporary dead main issue for the Board's ,;on►sideration. • This project also contains a. permanent dead end main that branches from the 12-inch line, There i;= a 6-inch water $*Nice for ft west half of the project 815 feet down this Ilne; the line then extends another 50o feet to provide hydrant coverage for the west side of the project. An attempt shoL4d be mad.e to find a way to bop the water system through this project. • The plan does not meet the firs hydrant coverage requirements of the Board. The west_. northwest Corner and east-northeast corner of the outlet center are more than 250 feet from a hydrant. Improvements should i7e made to the hydrant coverage an, this project. • There i; another issue with hydrant coveragein that all of the hydrants are on the same $ide of !tie buildings. Since the buildings are very long, there would be no Iivoass to fire hydrant , rrlang most of the back side of the buildings.
