IJCl.OW' PERFORATED PIPE Freedom PVC perforated pipe is available in standard perforation configurations and pipe diameters as illustrated. Alternate perforation configurations and PVC pipe grades are available upon request. Freedom's Highway Underdrain perforation pattern meets ASTM F758 and AASHTO M278 specifications. ASTM F758 specifications require a pipe stiffness of PS46. AASHTO M278 specifications require pipJ3 stiffness of PS50 requiring a special compound formulation available upon request. Freedom offers perforated PVC pipe in a variety of material grades, performance characteristics, perforation patterns and diameters. PVC COEX-FOAM CORE PIPE A more cost efficient alternative for drain, waste and vent applications, listed with NSF conforming to ASTM F891 for non-pressure DWV applications. Available in 1 1/2",2",3",4" and 6" diameters in 10 and 20-foot lengths: 4" and 6" are also available in solvent weld bell in 10-foot lengths. DEFLECTION & INSTAllATION PVC pipe is subject to varying degrees of deflection depending on such factors as degree of compaction of surrounding soils, class and d'ensity of the soil as defined in ASTM 02321 and the depth of burial. PVC pipe is designed to withstand vertical deflection of more than 30% before failare occurs. With this in mind, Freedom sewer pipe should be designed for a long-term deflection of 7.5% allowing for a 4:1 safety factor and maintaining joint integrity and still allowing for entrance of cleaning tools and service connections. Bedding: Freedom PVC gravity sewer pipe should be installed in accordance with ASTM 02321; the trench bottom should be stable and free of large stones and other foreign objects. Bedding materials should provide uniform longitudinal support under the pipe. Backfill: Backfill material should be worked under the sides of pipe (from the bed to the springline) to provide satisfactory support under the haunches of the pipe and then be compacted from the pipe wall to the side of the trench. Initial backfill should then be hand placed a minimum of 6" over the top of the pipe. Precautions should be taken to ensure that no large stones, crushed rock, frozen debris or any other damage or abrasion-causing material is contained in the backfill. The balance of the backfill may be machine placed and should be properly compacted. Service Connections: Connections to manholes should be made with manhole adapters, waterstops or other approved methods. Do not attempt to grout the pipe directly to concrete; make all service connections with approved wye or tee fittings. If saddle wyes or tees are used, stainless steel bands are necessary. TESTING AFTER INSTAllATION Accepted requirements recommend pressurizing a manhole to manhole section to 5.0 PSI; not permitting a drop below 3.0 PSI as shown on chart below. The "Arch" in the Base Casting covers the Curb Stop without being mechanically connected. When required, the Shut-off Rod is attached to the Tee Head of the Curb Stop and remains in place in the Curb Box. One of the primary tests of pve pipe is its quick burst strength. For pipe meeting the require- ments ofAWWA C-900, AWWA C-905,andAST:\1224L the minimum quick burst requirement for the hoop stress is 6/fOO psi. It is composed of a serrated restraint ring that is assembled on the spigot and a split bell that is assembled behind the bell. The rings are made of ductile iron. Available in 4" through 12" sizes. The Megaflange'0 flange adapter is a field-adaptable, restrained flanging system. The MegafIange adapter has a restraint ring and a gasket ring to give the maximum amount of flexibility during and after installation. It is available for use on PVC pipe in the 3" through 2.4" sizes. It can also be used on ductile iron in all sizes and on steel in some sizes. Series 2500 This series is a split, serrated restraint for C-907 PVC fitting bells. This can be done by partially tightening the bottom bolt first, then the top bolt, then the bolts at either side, and finally the remaining bolts. Repeat the process until all bolts are within the appro- priate range of torque. The use of a torque-indicating wrench 'will help this procedure. 6. The restraining glands shall have a pressure rat- ing equal to that of the pipe on which it is used. The restraining glands shall have been tested to U0il-B-13- 92, be listed by Undervvriters Laboratories, and be approved by Factory MutuaL The restraint shall be the EBAA Iron Series 2000PV or approved equal.
