Dear Mike:
Two items have come up regarding the attached landscape plan. First, the plan calls for Black Hills
spruce trees to be planted in the rear yard areas and along the edge of wetlands and detention ponds.
However, it has come to my attention that the plan calls for 4 spruce trees to be planted in the
boulevard area of Kaiser Avenue. Unfortunately, this was not caught during plan review. Mature
spruce trees in the boulevard areas of a street will cause sight problems, get damaged by the
snowplows, and are susceptible to salt damage. Therefore, I am requesting these trees be removed.
Secondly, along 49th Street there are a number of trees been planted less than 10 feet from a fire
hydrant. Some are within 5 feet of the hydrants. In some instances, there are also mailbox clusters
and telephone pedestals all within 10 feet of each other. I am requesting these trees be relocated as
well.
I would be happy to meet with you on site to review this issue. Please call me if you have any
questions.
