Assistant County Engineer Wright County Highway Department 1901 Highway 25 North Buffalo, MN 55313 Re: County Road 19 Pedestrian Signing Dear Mr. Hawkins, As discussed on the phone on Friday, May 19, 2006, we would like to suggest that a couple of signs be installed on County Road 19 in the vicinity of the Albertville Outlet Mall to discourage pedestrian crossings at non -crosswalk areas. The signs include the standard No Pedestrian Crossing sign (R9-3a) to be installed facing east and west at the two locations where pedestrian activity has been observed. In addition, we suggest that a special sign (Cross at Signal with an arrow) be installed on the west side of County Road 19 at the end of the sidewalk leading to the trail. I have attached a sketch illustrating the signing that we believe would discourage this activity. We are continuing to evaluate additional measures such as the value of installing countdown timers at the signal and construction of sidewalk areas to help lead pedestrians to the appropriate crossing location. Please give consideration to this request and contact me if you have additional thoughts or concerns regarding this issue. Sincerely, BOLTON & MENK, INC.
