RE: Mn/DOT 5310 Vehicle Application— Guardian Angels
Dear Mr. Groothuis:
The City of Albertville fully supports Guardian Angel's 5310 Vehicle Application for a new
class 300 bus through MnDOT's Elderly Persons and Persons with Disabilities Capital Grant.
Guardian Angels is a comprehensive senior care provider serving seniors regardless of their
religious affiliation or economic status. For decades this non-profit corporation has been
offering high -quality housing opportunities and programs that reflect an environment of
compassion, dignity and respect for seniors.
Guardian Angels is currently expanding their care facilities to include an Albertville campus and
transportation service for our elderly and disabled residents is extremely important. Funding for
a new bus will allow Guardian Angels to provide a much needed service to our seniors by
connecting them to more activities, recreational programs, special events and adult day services.
The City of Albertville does not currently have a public transportation option. Albertville and
the neighboring communities (St. Michael, Hanover and Otsego) are working together towards
offering a local transit provider (River Rider), and if successful, Guardian Angels is committed
to coordinating efforts to benefit seniors and compliment transportation availability when public
transportation is unavailable.
We appreciate your consideration of the Guardian Angels application. Funding through your
program will greatly benefit seniors in our community!
Sincerely,
CITY OF ALBERTVILLE
