Adjourn to Regular Meeting Agenda Page 1 MEMORANDUM TO: Albertville City Council, Planning Commission & City Staff FROM: Alan Brixius/Michelle Barness DATE: April 3, 2014 RE: Albertville – 2014 Goals and Project Priorities Workshop FILE: 163.05 - 14.02 In April the City Council will meet to discuss updating goals and priorities from Albertville’s 2012 Vision Study. The purpose of the Vision Study is to “define the vision, goals, and priorities of the community for the next 20 to 30 years.” The intention is to provide direction to City staff in its more immediate future planning, administration, and investment efforts for the Council. The workshop will be held to provide City staff and public officials the opportunity to reflect on what priorities have already been accomplished, discuss next steps in completing ongoing project priorities, and provide suggestions for goals and priorities relating to newly identified issue areas. To aid in this discussion, planning staff has included with this memo an outline of topics that may be considered by staff and officials in preparation for the workshop. We request staff and officials come to the workshop with a list of issues/projects they would like to see addressed over the next 10 years. This outline is meant to stimulate discussion, so please do not feel it is necessary to address every topic (unless that is your preference). Please consider topics from both the perspective of the greater community, and how things may be impacted at the neighborhood or site scale. In addition to the described outline, planning staff has attached the following for your consideration: • The status of “10 Year Projects” originally identified in the Albertville 2012 Visioning Study • The status of “Project Priorities” originally identified in the Albertville 2012 Visioning Study • A list of projects completed in 2013 • Examples of economic development/marketing brochures completed in 2013 • A City Issues Map (extracted from the Albertville 2012 Visioning Study), providing the geographical location of identified issues • The Albertville Proposed Land Use Map (as a guide for the City’s intentions regarding future development).
