SUBJECT: CITY CLERK — CANVASS 2016 GENERAL ELECTION RESULTS
RECOMMENDATION: It is respectfully requested that the Mayor and Council consider the
following:
MOTION TO: Approve Resolution No. 2016-032 certifying the results of the 2014 General
Election.
BACKGROUND: The City Council serves as the Canvassing Board. The Canvassing Board
must meet no sooner than three (3) days after the election and no later than ten (10) days after the
election and requires at least a quorum of the Board. The Board must review the results for
correctness. If the Board is satisfied that the tabulation of the votes is correct, the Board may
make the results official. Listed below are the results for the offices of Mayor and City Council
members.
POLICY CONSIDERATIONS: The Canvassing Board must follow State Statute 205.185
as follows:
Subd. 3.Canvass of returns, certificate of election, ballots, disposition.
(a) Between the third and tenth days after an election, the governing body of a city conducting any election
including a special municipal election, or the governing body of a town conducting the general election in
November shall act as the canvassing board, canvass the returns, and declare the results of the election. The
governing body of a town conducting the general election in March shall act as the canvassing board, canvass the
returns, and declare the results of the election within two days after an election.

A RESOLUTION CERTIFYING RESULTS OF THE
NOVEMBER 8, 2016 GENERAL ELECTION
WHEREAS, the City of Albertville held a municipal election for the office of Mayor and
two City Council members on Tuesday, November 8, 2016, during the General Election; and,
WHEREAS, on this 14t` day of November, 2016, the City Council met to canvass said
election results; and,
WHEREAS, the votes tabulated at said election were:
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Albertville City Council that the following
candidates for the offices of Mayor and City Council member were elected at the November 8,
2016 regular municipal election for the respective terms to commence January 1, 2017:
Mayor Jillian Hendrickson 2 year term expiring Dec. 31, 2018
Council Member Aaron Cocking 4 year term expiring Dec. 31, 2020
