PARKS and RECREATION COMMITTEE MINUTES
February 27,2006
Albertville Council Chamber
6:30 PM
CALL TO ORDER - ROLL CALL - ADOPT AGENDA
PRESENT: Council member LeRoy Berning, Committee member Lauren Kastner, Marjory
Hart, and Denise Prow, Public Works Supervisor Tim Guimont, and City Clerk Bridget Miller
ABSENT: Mayor Don Peterson
Council member Berning called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.
REVIEW AND APPROVE PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT AT FOUR SEASONS PARK
FOR RECOMMENDATION TO CITY COUNCIL
PW Supervisor Guimont stated that the playground equipment located at Four Seasons Park is
out-of-date; therefore realizing new equipment is necessary. Guimont informed the committee
he invited Bill Johnson with Flanagan Sales to discuss the layout that would work best for the
amount of space available on the site.
The committee members suggested putting a toddler age play structure on the upper deck of the
Four Seasons Park and school-age play structure on the lower deck. This would allow parents to
keep an eye on their school-age children from the upper deck.
Mr. Johnson brought to the committee's attention the proposed playground layout presented
would be for the upper deck. There would not be enough space on the lower deck for the play
structure.
The committee members made recommendations to the proposed playground layout such as a
climbing structure, a jumping structure and a spiral slide. Mr. Johnson stated he would revise the
plans and present them to the committee at the March 27,2006 meeting.
REVIEW AND APPROVE GAZEBO FOR ALBERT VILLAS PARK AND FOUR
SEASONS PARK FOR RECOMMENDATION TO CITY COUNCIL
PW Supervisor Guimont reported at the January meeting the committee members decided upon a
couple styles of a gazebo. The one area to decide was whether to go with a shingled roof or a
metal/tin roof. After further consideration, Guimont noted the shingles would require more
maintenance than the metal/tin roof. He asked the committee members what color they would
prefer.
