Stoclnltan pointed out that tile concept plan does not show 53rd
Street as an 80' wide right-~f-way collector street. 'l'he
COftIIfti8sion discussed whether aftGther col lector street would be
necessary in the area and concurred that a lesser right-of-way for
53rd Street is a viable option.
City ~gtneer Peter Carlson addressed the 8ewer trunk
extension. 'l'he concept plan shows thl!itt:runk be; ng fll!xtendedfrom
'88rthel Co",",ercial Park. Carlson :tndicatedthat extending the
trunk throuqh 51th street provides greater lateral. benefit and is
easier from a mllint@nance standpoint. "'he trunk sewer 8S. proposed
requires increased construction COAtS. due to the crossing of two
wetlands, an increased potenti'al of infiltration because of the
"etlllnds area, and maintena.nce difficulties 1ngetting to the
manhol es located in the wet 1 ands are8. Carl son stated that the
trunk line as proposed wi 11 work, but the l'roposal is not. the
preferred alignment. Carlson also indicated that a lift station
wi. 11 be required if the property to the west of the initial plat is
developed.
Roessler told the CGlllftission there will be 1 ittle lateral
benefit even if the trunk follows 51th street becau..the lots in
hi.s proposed d...lOflMftt do not front on 51th Street and will be
served b1 lateral. H.fte. OIl the r....l.r streets. Ro..sler further
stated that. the ,roposed routing of. the sever t runt wi 11 benef i t
the ei tl i__iatel, bl ell_la.ting the eJfistingt...~rary lift
station in the hrkside AcNition. Roesslers.id an additiGtlal lift
station may ne.er be.ft.eded if the portion of the potential golf
course within the ei tl li.i!:s does not incl ude residential parCels.
Chait Berniftg told thee~issiOft the first decision to be
made iswheth~r the propo8M cleve I opwMtnt is prMMture. Berning
believfts thedevelo)nnent is not premature due to the f8ctthe Marx
