Although City Engineer Carlson has discussed drainage on the
lot and approved of a plan to pipe drainage across the lot and into
the storm sewer at the intersection of 61st and Lachman, the
Commission feels it needs a written report approving the drainage
as proposed by Savitski prior to recommending approval of the site
plan to the Council.
Anderson made a motion to table discussion of the site plan to
May 28, 1996, at 7:00 PM, by which time the engineer can prepare a
wri t ten report on his recommendations for drainage. Vetsch
seconded the motion. All voted aye.
The Commission discussed the sign ordinance, which prohibits
moving or flashing signs. The current ordinance also prohibits
signs greater than 20 square feet. The Commission concurred that
the ordinance is more prohibi ti ve than is necessary and wi 11
consider revising the sign to accommodate the sign designed for
STMA High School.
.
Dave Shannon, owner of Color Signs of Albertville, volunteered
to assist the City with developing a revised sign ordinance less
prohibitive. Shannon is in the process of placing the readerboard
sign at the STMA High School site that is not in compliance with
the current ordinance. The building official has red-flagged the
project until the issue of compliance can be resolved.
