Linda reported that the operational costs for the wastewater
treatment facility from January through October 1993 was
$53,412.11. This incl udes the portion of wages and benefi ts
proportionate to the hours spent at the facility. The largest
single expenditure in 1993 was for alum, totaling $25,441.49 for
the year.
Norm, Linda and Ken met earl ier to refine the anticipated
operational costs of the facili ty using Ci ty staff. A proposed
expense budget was drafted and presented to the Council.
Expenditures are anticipated around $85,000. This figure includes
30% of the wage and benefit package paid to the two maintenance
employees, as well a $7,500 repair and replacement fund. The
Chemical budget was set at $10,000, although Norm explained that
as a result of the benchmark testing that was done, he felt that
the chemical budget was on the extreme high end. Because Linda

Resident Jim Walsh stated that he is opposed to contracting
with outside firms to operate the City's wastewater plant. He
ci ted the exampl e of the Joint Powers Board wi th a contract
maintenance firm and the disappointment the City of Albertville has
experienced because of that.
Resident Gary Schwenzfeier also expressed opposition to
removing the wastewater plant from the City's direct operation.
Mayor Potter stated that contracting out the operation of the

to check all options to determine the most cost effective way to
operate City services. Mayor Potter will schedule another meeting
at a later date to meet with PSG to discuss questions about the
contract proposed.

the motion. All voted aye.
