2013-08-26 Park Board MinutesAlbertville Parks Committee meeting minutes August 26, 2013 Attendees: Tim Guimont, Andy Swanson, Larry Sorensen, Mark Barthel, Jon Vetsch, LeRoy Berning Visitor(s): Tate Mills, Rob Rich, Zack Peterson, Sandy Greninger Zack Peterson, Troop 547, Eagle Scout Boardwalk Project Project will cost about $5,000, but Zack is shooting to collect $6,000 to cover overruns, gifts for donators and food for volunteers. Paperwork with city is complete. Tentative completion date is Oct. 1. Committee recommends that City Council donate $1,000 to project from Park Capital Improvement budget. Memorial Park Sign for Memorial Park approved by committee to match other Albertville park signs. Committee gives OK for sign to include a short explanation of park on back. Tate Mills is working with Adam Nafstad on the text that will be on the sign. Dedication ceremony scheduled for noon on Sept. 22, A.F.D. asked for Parks Committee representation at ceremony. FYCC - Completed eight weeks of reading and crafts at Central Park, Sandy said attendance was way up from previous years. Thursday night Family BINGO will move to City Hall next month; firemen have been invited to interact with kids one night; - STMA Rotary bench will be installed along Co. Rd. 18, Tim will determine specific location. Benches are expected in three weeks; - One Rotary Little Library will be installed at the 57th St. sitting area next to existing benches across from Fire Hall. Sandy will check with Dr. Behle about putting the other Little Library at Albertville Primary School on Main Ave.; - Sandy will place ads at High Schools, Crow River News and Albertville and St. Michael newsletters to hire rink attendants. Must be 16 years old, need about a dozen attendants between both cities. Winter Park Gazebo Gazebo for Winter Park has been ordered from Flanagan Sales and is expected to be complete before winter. Flanagan came down about $4,000 from its original bid. Horseshoe Pits at Oakside City Council agreed to go ahead with committee’s recommendation to remove the horseshoe pits at Oakside Park. Four Seasons Park - Trail was recently overlayed; - Shelter has some demand for electrical service. It would cost about $3,000 to install 50-amp service with a couple outlets and lockable box. Committee tabled the issue to identify needs and determine service fees. Other - Tim will look into concrete slab for behind the backstop at Winter park for portable bleachers; - Tim will get bids to install electrical service for Christmas lights on poles along 57th St.; - Tim will find out how big of a tree can be moved and planted in town as a holiday tree.
