2017-05-22 Parks Committee
Albertville Parks Committee meeting minutes
May 22, 2017
Attendees: Andy Swanson, Tim Guimont, Larry Boller, John Vetsch, LeRoy Berning
Explore Your Parks Night
Winter: Andy’s Pizza served 27 pizzas, Winter Park was very well attended. Larry says there was a group
of about 20 teenage boys who hung out all evening and ate pizza.
Four Seasons: Foxtailers served 72 hot dogs and less than a half jug of McDonald’s orange drink.
Villas: Was steady but not overly busy.
Weather was cool, cloudy and breezy.
The event overall went smoothly. Committee recommends that for future EYPN events, though, specific
details about which food will be served should not be publicly communicated, but instead say that there
will be food samples at some parks. The idea behind the event is to get people out to see and
experience their parks, and to see city equipment and personnel – not to feed them dinner. Committee
would still like to the event to incorporate youth athletics and community clubs like Foxtailers
Snowmobile Club, Scouts and Lions.
Lions Central Park
Meeting attendees walked the park and surveyed where the depot building will go and surveyed the
park. Factors identified on site that will affect the redesign are parking, auto access to the depot, foot
traffic flow, entrances, whether the park needs more identification other than at Main Ave., and
attractions within the park. The committee recommends updating the park in stages, starting with the
construction of the depot.
