Albertville Parks Committee meeting minutes

Attendees: Tim Guimont, Larry Boller, FYCC coordinator Sarah Hansen, Adam Nafstad, Johnnie Vetsch,
Andy Swanson, Sharon Oakvik
1.Westwind Park
Park has been disassembled in preparation for rehab project.
Will price out a metal roof and shingles. Omann Bros. will do site work, trails and sidewalks.
Further research by Adam into a boardwalk shows helical piers would cost about $120,000; pad
style would be about $95,000. Pad style are what are used for bridges in Winter Park and path
near Albertville fire department building. Tim still looking into shelter pricing – after discussion
last month about shelters for Westwind Park, Tim will get a price from Minnesota-Wisconsin
playground for a 16- by 20-foot structure; open timber truss design with gable ends and tongue-
and-groove ceiling.
2.Central Park
Property acquisition: In discussion with Mark Barthel and Kay Marie (dance studio). Pavilion
improvements topic is in discussion. City has asked Earl Baumann to come up with an estimate,
Lions are discussing partnering with the city on the project.
3.2019 Albertville Centennial Celebration
Event tentatively set for Sept. 21, 2019. Group meeting August 27 after the Parks meeting.
Mad Monkey working on 100-year logo design.
Agenda for Aug. 27 meeting: Focus on features of the event and sub-committees. Leave meeting
with a timeline that leads up to the event.

Promotions
Logo
Fireworks
Logistics (trash, biffies, etc.)
Historical attractions
