Planning Commission
7-22-85
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Warner at 7:00 pm. Members
present were Warner. Reding and Abrahamson. Also present was City Administrator
Sievert and City ~torney Peterson. Absent was Olson and Kaduce.
Attorney Peterson discussed and reviewed the Subdivision Ordinance. Aside
from grammer and numbering changes. major changes were as follows:

Deleted all reference to the Comprehensive Plan (as we don't have one).
1202.08. changed amount of filing fee from $35. to $75. plus any engineering
expenses.
1202.10. added a Subdivision 3: "Such other information and documentation
as requested by the Planning Commision."
1203.02. deleted reference to Comprehensive Plan.
1203.02. Subdivision 9. deleted reference to Comprehensive Plan.
1203.05. deleted reference to Comprehensive Plan.
1204.02. deleted old Section 5-22; reference to Comprehensive Plan.
1208.03. updated penalty.
1203.07. SUbdivision 3. requiring corner stakes for lots in addition to
other areas listed.
1204.04. Subdivision 3. added sentence similar to 1204.03. Subdivision 4.
- ~torney Peterson discussed and reviewed the Zoning Ordinance. t~jor changes
were as follows:

period on permits and exterior construction and landscaping ~ust be
completed within the time period of the permit.

All voted in favor.
Following up on a matter brought to the City Administrators attention, the
Commission discussed home occupations in a residenta1 area. The Commission
agreed that there was no problem as long as they were in conformance with Section
1-5" HOl,re OCCUPATION, of the current zoning ordinance. That section reads as
follows:
Rome Occupation_ An occupation carried on by an occupant of a ~welling as an
accessory activity to the main residential use of the building, and meeting the
following restrictions:
A. Not more than one person shall be employed other than residents of
said dwelling.

B. The occupation ahall be conducted wholly within the dwelling or an
accessory bUilding.
C Floor area devoted to the occupation shall not exceed:~5% of the total ground
area occupied by buildings. on the lot.
D. The occupation shall not be objectionable to adjacent residences due to
noise, hours of operation, traffic, electrical interference, etc.
E. There shall be no display or evidence apparent from the exterior of. the
lot that the premises are being used for any purpose other than that of
a dwelling.
