PLANNING COMMISSION
MINUTES
JULY 14, 1988
The regular meeting of the Planning Commission was called to
order by Chairman Brian Bebeau. Members present included Don Berningi
Donatus Vetsch, Kevin Mealhouse and Mark Daleiden. Others presen
included Maureen Andrews. '
The Planning Comeission ~ae infor~ed that Maureen had been
contacted by someone 1nterested 1n bu Id1ng a restaurant/gas station
and 100 bed motel combination.oll the Beaudry property located on the
south side of Co. Road 37 across from the Hackenmueller store.
There was some guestion regarding whether or not this property is
in fact located ,in tneCity of Albertville. Maureen explained that she
would be meetinf with the, potential buyer and would explain the City's
concern regard nf t~e pro~rty. There was some discussion regarding
the possibility 0 anneXing the property if necessary so that the City
could service it public utilities.
There was some additional discussion regarding the extension of
sewer and water to service the property if in fact the property is in
the City limits. The.. Planning Commission was informed that if the
property is in the City that feasibility studies would be conducted to
determine the expense of installing the services.
The Planning Commission was next informed that someone is
interested in 10catinga propane gas station is Albertville. The
property being proposed is the most easterl~ corner of the Andy
Savitski property (back along the creek). Maureen informed the
Planning Commission,that the firm interested in locating in
Albertville operates a system much like that in St. Michael, that is
the sale of residentiaktanks and a fill station for their trucks.
The firm which is curren't y located in Stillwater is looking to locate
on the west side of the in Cities since a large percentage of their
business comes from this a.rea. '
There was some COncern expressed that the location of this type
of business in acoamercial area and so close to the existing
fertilizer plant., There was some concern that in the case of an
emergency that there wa. potential for danger.
After some additional discussion the issue as tabled and no
action was taken on it.
The Planning Commission next briefly reviewed the DRAFT
SUBDIVISION REGULATIONS, gOing through some of the major areas of
concern. The Planni~ Commission was informed that there would be a
joint meeting of the Planning Co.mmission and the City Council to
review this in more detail with staff. The date of the meeting has
been schedule for August 11" 1988.
There was no other business so a motion to adjourn was made by
Mark Daleiden and seconded by Kevin Mealhouse. All were in favor and
the motion carried.
