He is the site design and engineer who put the site plant together. Chair Brown bad a questioo.about the outlots. Commission member Budde asked about theacee$$roadftomthis development and the Outlet Mall. ( . . . Chair Brown closed the public hearing at 7:08 p.m. Commission member Meyer was concerned with the roadwork. John with RLK replied by saying they would be working with the City Engineer Pete Carlson. Klecker made a motion to approve the Zoning Request Application and Preliminary Plat with the staff recommendations and keeping Item No.2 as a safety net. Meyer seconded the motion. All voted aye. 4. OTHER.BUSINESS a) Briefly Interview Commission Applicants Chair Brown asked if the applicants were present in the audience. All four were present. He said he would ask each applicant in no specific order to go into a little more detail about his or her interest in the Planning Commission. First one was Charles Fritze who resides at 10302 Karston Avenue NE in Albertville. He moved to Albertville in the fall of 2000. He looks forward to his children going to the STMA schools and graduating from STMA. He went over his schooling he has completed. He wants to get involved with the City and thought this would be a good opportunity. He noticed that Albertville seems to be a blossoming city. He to~hed on the work history and education. He has taken classes at St. Cloud College and worked heavily with the Student Government Judiciary Committee. He asked what type or types of projects the Commission has been up against. Chair Brown briefly introduced the Commission members to Charles and the others in the audience. He commented that they were involved in the reviewing of the Outlets at Albertville, reviewing the Golf Course and numerous residential developments. Next applicant was Tom Fay who resides at 10795 - 70th Street NE in Albertville. He has lived in area for 27 years and has seen the changes. He would like to help the City continue to grow. He wants to become more involved in the planning of the future growth and look out for the best interest of the residents of Albertville. His employment background is in the Electrical Contracting business for l4-years. . . . . CITY OF ALBERTVILLE PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION JUNE 13,2001 MINUTES Page 3 of 4 Next applicant was Tim Sweeney who resides at 6111 Kahler Drive NE in Albertville. Tim has always wanted to be more involved in the community. He has been with the Lions in other communities he had resided in. He has done a considerable amount of research on Albertville before he and his wife decided to move here. He working in the Wayzata area and enjoys coming home to the country scenery. He appreciates the hometown feeling Albertville has. He looks forward to going to the local restaurants and recognizing the residents or neighbors. He has children and likes the thought of them going to the St. Michael! Albertville Schools. What he feels the commission has some guidelines to go by, but to look at all of the aspects of what is proposed before them. Final applicant is Leslie Fessler who resides at 11191 Lachman Circle NE in Albertville. She asked the commission what quality or qualifications they are looking for in a commission member. Commission member Meyer commented that it would be someone who would represent the community. Look out for the best possible solution to meet the needs of the community. Chair Brown agreed with his comments. Commission member Budde commented that it is good to have a diversity of representatives. That way all the possible areas would represent the community. Commission member Klecker commented about how at times we have easy decisions to make and other times we are up against some difficult ones. It is hard to please everyone that comes in, but we try to think of the community and where it could possible grow to. Leslie then went into more detail of her work history. She has dealt with a number of areas in her work history and felt she would be an asset to the Commission. She would review the items that came across her desk from medical supplies to construction concerns. She would make the best decision with the interest of the residents in mind. Chair Brown suggested that the commission members present goes through the applicants and ranks them 1 to 4. 1 being their first choice and 4 being their last choice. Chair Brown would add the scores up and let them know who got the highest and lowest score. . . . . CITY OF ALBERTVILLE PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION JUNE 13, 2001 MINUTES Page 4 of 4 Chair Brown thanked all the applicants for coming to the meeting and sharing information with the Commission. It is great to see some interest from the residents of the community to want to serve on the commission. Again thank you and we will forward our recommendation onto the City Council.
