PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION
ApPROVED MINUTES
September 26,2001
1.
CALL TO ORDER - ROLL CALL - ADOPT AGENDA
Chair Brown called the Special Meeting of the Planning and Zoning Commission to order.
PRESENT: Chair Jim Brown, Commission members Tim Sweeney, Ron Klecker,
Tom Fay, City Planner Cindy Sherman and Deputy Clerk Bridget Miller
2. PUBLIC HEARINGS
a) Detached Garage -12410 58th Street (Steve Long)
Chair Brown opened the Public Hearing at 6:02 p.m.
City Planner Sherman reviewed the ordinance on accessory buildings and detached garages.
She went out to the site and noticed others in the area have similar situations where they
have detached garages.
Commission member Fay asked if it was going to line up with the current garage. He went
out to the area and noticed one resident had a detached garage which was a few feet closer
to the lot line than the garage. It seemed as if it towered over the attached garage. Will the
exterior of the detached garage match the house and garage?
Chair Brown read the from Zoning Ordinance book in regards to this - the exterior of a
detached building is to match the exterior of the current building on the site.
Chair Brown asked if there were any additional comments. He also asked if there was
anyone present in the audience to comment on the public hearing.
The only one present was the applicant who commented that a number of the surrounding
residents were going to help build.
Chair Brown closed the Public Hearing at 6:07 p.m.
Klecker made a motion to approve the Conditional Use Permit with the findings of facts
and staff recommendations. Sweeney seconded the motion. All voted aye.
3. ADJOURNMENT
Chair Brown added a comment about getting the Government Training Information to the new
Commission members. Giving them the opportunity to take some training on Planning. City
Planner Sherman stated that those classes are generally offered in the Spring of the year. (March
or April). Deputy Clerk agreed to get the information out when it came to the City.
Klecker made a motion to adjourn at 6: 12 p.m. Fay seconded the motion. All voted aye.
