2021-05-10 STMA Ice Arena Board Minutes ST. MICHAEL-ALBERTVILLE ICE ARENA BOARD MINUTES May 10, 2021 6:00 p.m. Present: Chairman Larry Sorensen and members, Keith Wettschreck, Walter Hudson, Aaron Cocking, Tim Lewis, Ryan Gleason and Kari Dwinnell. Also present: City Administrator Adam Nafstad, City Finance Director Tina Lannes, STMA Arena Manager Grant Fitch and School and Ground Director Jason Bichler. The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by Chairman Sorensen. Set Agenda Members Hudson\Lewis moved to set the agenda as amended. All voted aye. 2020 Audit Presentation Tyler See presented the 2020 financial statement audit report which provided an unqualified opinion. Members Cocking\Gleason moved to accept the 2020 audit report as presented. All voted aye. Approval of Minutes Members Gleason\Hudson moved to approve the minutes of the April 12, 2021 Board Meeting as presented. Hudson, Wettschreck, Cocking, Lewis and Gleason voted aye. Dwinnell abstained. Finance Reports Lannes presented the finance reports. Members Cocking\Lewis moved to approve the April list of claims totaling $49,990.78 and the April Financial Report as presented. All voted aye. Arena Manager's Report Fitch presented the Arena Managers report mentioning that the hours sold April was 234 hours which was more than projected. In addition, Fitch stated that the estimate to do maintenance on the 20-year- old Zamboni will be an estimated $6,634.15. There was discussion on the Zamboni maintenance including energy cost and expected additional life expectancy. Fitch informed the board that the chiller goes down on occasion due to the breaker tripping in the new power supply located outside. The panel gets wet and trips the breaker. Nafstad mentioned that staff is looking into option and cost to install an awning to prevent roof runoff onto the cabinet. New Business Member Dwinnell asked staff on how more ice time could be sold especially in the summer. There was discussion on what ice is currently booked, how booking is prioritized and options to sell more ice. Adiourn Members Dwinnell\Cocking moved to adjourn at 6:51 p.m. All voted aye.
