2021-08-23 Parks Committee Minutes Albertville Parks Committee meeting 8-23-21
Attendees:Tim Guimont,Andy Swanson, Sandy Greninger, Larry Boller, LeRoy Berning,Terry James,
Adam Nafstad, Lauryn White
1. Committee candidates
1.1 After submitting a letter of interest to join the committee and interviewing in June,Terry
James accepted the city's offer to join the committee.Terry attended the meeting.
1.2 Lauryn White attended the meeting to introduce herself. Lauryn submitted a letter of
interest to join the committee last month. She has been involved with Friendly City Days, is a
member of the MOMS Club and operates STMAmom.com website.
2. Water Fountains
A fountain has been purchased and will be installed in Westwind Park.The Lion water fountain
will be reinstalled in Central Park after a concrete slab has been poured. Committee also
discussed possibility that the Albertville Lions Club could purchase another lion fountain and a
lion bench for placement in other parks. Potential affected parks include Villas and Four
Seasons.
3. Central Park outhouse
Recommend adding another outhouse at Central Park with an enclosure to improve aesthetics.
After discussion, committee recommends adding the outhouse to the park and experimenting
with placement before adding a permanent enclosure.
4. Central Park
4.1 Skatepark is nearing completion—grading and pavement work remain.
4.2 A revised plan for plaza and sidewalk through park were presented by Adam.
4.3 Playground: Discussed putting in a "tot lot" and small water feature west of caboose.
4.4 Next steps: Get an estimate for the plaza in front of depot,for trails and plaza on west end
of pavilion.Trail to be stamped concrete.
