1. Rotary donation
STMA Rotary wants to donate$10,000 to the parks,with naming rights.There was discussion
but the topic was tabled because the committee needs to come up with a project to put the
money toward.
2. Linfield Park
Playground equipment is due for replacement.Tim will explore options for about$25,000 and
revisit the topic at the next meeting.
3. Park comprehensive plan
City Administrator Adam Nafstad has asked the committee to come up with a comprehensive
plan for parks and parks projects.To create this,though,the Committee wants to know the
annual Parks budget to help steer projects and define scope. Committee members will put
together individual wish lists of projects they would like to see implemented throughout the
city's parks.The committee will review those lists at the next meeting.
4. Parks Night
There was discussion at the October meeting about hosting the May event only at Westwind
Park to promote the park and recent investments. Ideas included a mailer to neighborhood to
promote walking or riding to the event, food truck(s), ice cream truck, a music feature, naturalist
on boardwalk. Discussion this month included having the event exclusively at Central Park
where people could get"Park Passports"they would use tour the parks within following week
(or so) and answer survey questions to prove they visited the park. Survey data and information
would be used to steer the city on future park projects. EYP Night will be May 19 at Central Park,
6-8pm. Event details/amenities TBD.
