DATE:
I have recently received a call from Eric Dudley, who is seeking TIF assistance
from the City of Albertville in establishing a granite countertop shop in the City. Dudley
is interested in purchasing the seven acre Tom Shaney property (next to Hack's) and
constructing a building to house a shop, offices for the shop, and a very small display
area.
Dudley originally estimated building expenses in the $200,000 to $300,000 range,
but now estimates building investment of approximately $1,000,000, exclusive of the
estimated $300,000 purchase price for the land. Totalland/buildinglequipment
investment is estimated by Dudley at $2.5 million. The land will likely need to be
rezoned to 1-1, and water may need to be extended to the site in order to make the project
possible. The company uses a closed water recycling system in-house, and thus has only
normal toilet/sink discharge into the sanitary sewer system.
We are set to meet with Dudley on Wednesday at 2:00 p.rn. at the Albertville City
Hall. I am attempting to see if Mark Nevinski of the Wright COlmty Economic
Development Partnership can attend, and will also be in touch with Carol Presley-Olson of
DTED to see if any assistance can be made available. Dudley is also interested in more
information regarding the City's revolving loan fund.
