1.Updates
a.Park Signage -No update
b.Scoreboard -Leroy presented the design for the new Central Park scoreboard. Adam is
getting final numbers, but the project is paid for and will be installed this summer. The
city may also be updating the smaller scoreboards.
c.Naming Rights -No update until Rob reports back from City Council
2.Parks Night 2023 – Friday May 19th
a.Which parks -The event will tentatively be held at three parks—Four Seasons, Linwood,
and either Westwind or Oakside, TBD at next meeting.
b.Food -Community groups will be asked to provide hot dogs, chips, drinks at each park.
The Lions are already on board, and Tim will reach out to Foxtailers and Rotary.
c.Entertainment ideas -Terry is looking into pricing for a balloon artist at each park. Pat
will reach out to the K-9 unit and Albertville Royalty about making scheduled visits to
each park, and Tim will ask the fire department about bringing trucks.
d.Park surveys -The group would like to bring back the QR code surveys, with specific
surveys for just these three parks. Lauryn will bring last year ’s survey to next meeting.
e.Park maps -will be handed out again. Lauryn will work on updating last year ’s handout.
3.Central Park
a.Parking Lot -The group reviewed the updated parking lot concept and made an
adjustment to the drawing that straightens out the lot but eliminates 3 spaces. Tim will
give the updated request to Adam. The hope is to have the project completed before
Friendly City Days.
b.Park Entrance Water Feature -The group approved the water feature concept drawing
but requested an alternate material for the pergola that is longer lasting / lower
maintenance, such as steel.
c.Playground -The group reviewed the new playground concept drawings, which were
updated to add a sidewalk and a poured-in-place flooring on half the playground. The
group discussed swapping out one small shelter for 3 separate picnic tables with shade
sails. The group would also like to see the addition of a small sand pit, drinking fountain,
infant swings (possibly an adult-infant swing like the one at Westwind), and a barrier
between the playground and road. There were also some concerns about the removal of
additional trees.
4.Towne Lakes and CSAH 37 trail connections -The group would like to look for outside sources of
funding for this project, such as grants.
5.Pickleball/Basketball court at Oakside -Discussed current drawing as well as an option to keep
one tennis court by expanding the overall footprint of the sport courts. Tim expressed concern
that expanding the court to this size could be more work and cost than the project is worth.
Next meeting:Monday, March 27
