RE: PSYCHS 5TH ADDmON
Dear Board Members:
We have reviewed the Psychs 5th Addition watermain plans and specifications. The plans and
specifications generally conform to the Board's requirements. One noted concern is the
alignment of the watennain on 53rd Street NE west of Lachmann Avenue NE.
We recommend the watermain be located no closer than two feet from the curb and gutter to
allow for ease of future maintenance. The alignment as shown crosses the curb and gutter into
the boulevard area. This will cause a conflict with other utilities such as telephone, gas, cable
television, or electricity for future repair work.
Sincerely,
MAIER STEWART & ASSOCIATES~ INC.

Date Examined: September 9, 1992
Date Received: September 4, 1992
SCOPE: This report covers the design of this project insofar as the safety and sanitary quality of the water for
public consumption may be affected, and applies to this project only and not to the entire system or any other
part thereof. The examination of plans is based upon the supposition that the data on which the design is
based are correct, and that necessary legal authority has been obtained to construct the project. The
responsibility for the design of structural features and the efficiency of equipment must be taken by the project
designer. Approval is contingent upon satisfactory disposition of any requirements included with this report.
Water supply plans are examined with regard to the location, construction and operational features of the design
and maintenance of all parts of the system which may affect the safety and sanitary quality of the water.
Examination is based on the standards of this Department.
This project consists of the installation of the following watermains:
1. 468 lineal feet of 6-inch ductile iron pipe.
2. 1,107 lineal feet of 8-inch ductile iron pipe.
REQUlREMENT(S):
1. A minimum vertical separation of 18 inches is required at all watermain and sewer main (house, storm and
sanitary) crossings.
COMPLIANCE: No construction shall take place except in accordance with the approved plans. If it is
desired to make deviations from the approved plans, the State Department of Health should be consulted and
approval of the changes obtained before construction is started; otherwise, such construction is installed without
proper approval, and in addition may create dangers to public health.
Authorization for construction in accordance with the approved plans may be withdrawn if construction is not
undertaken within a period of two years. The fact that the plans have been approved does not necessarily
mean that recommendations or requirements for change will not be made at SOme later time when changed
conditions, additional information, or advanced knowledge make improvements necessary.
