Dear Mr. Powers:
Our review of information that you received from Meyer-Rohlin by letter dated July
28, 1994 indicates before and after acreage of the drainage areas draining onto the
Marx property from the Psyk property of26.37 acres and 7.9 acres respectively. The
Meyer-Rohlin letter of May 27, 1994 to me indicated about 30 acres and 7.9 acres
for the same areas. A June 9, 1994 letter from Meyer-Rohlin to me included a map
that showed these same areas that I used to check the acreage. My calculation yields
32.7 acres and 10.8 acres for these areas.
The up shot of all this is that I would recommend a 3 foot deep detention pond on
the Psyk lot for use in the temporary solution mentioned in the July 28, letter to you.
would about 0.6 acre feet of storage in the temporary parcel.
I agree with the Meyer-Rohlin statement that the temporary pond and reduced
runoff area should provide a reasonable temporary solution, when coupled with a
financial arrangement that would provide a basis for sharing future stonn sewer costs.
Also, I recommend that the City work with Mr. Marx to obtain the use of the
existing low land for a detention pond. This will be needed to allow development of
the Marx property in the future, similar to the plan shown in the December 1988
"West Albertville Drainage Study". The pond size may be reduced if the area west
of County Highway 19 is directed to county ditch No.9.
