Croix Oil has submitted a sign permit application to allow additional signage at the Mobil
Station located at 11044 61 st Street Northeast within the Mooney Addition development.
According to submitted sign permit application and discussion with Duane Downey of
Amtech Lighting, the following additional signage is requested;
18' x 20" ;::; 30 sq. feet
. Front wall sign
. Non illuminated banner with changeable copy to read "Come Inside and Treat
Yourself."
. Quantity 1
10' x 3'4" = 33.3 sq. feet
. Front wall sign
. Illuminated channel letter sign to read "On the Run."
. Quantity 1
5'8" x 3' ;:: 17.01 sq. feet
. Side wall sign
. Illuminated box sign on north and south elevation to replace 5' diameter (19.63
sq. feet - quantity 2) side wall signs. This sign will read "On the Run"

According to NAC records, a sign variance was requested by the Mooney Development
Corporation in October 2000 and approved by the City. The variance granted flexibility
to exceed the maximum letter size for the canopy signage and square footage of the
pylon signage. Generally speaking, this variance allowed the Mobil Station to install
standard sized signs instead of customized signage. Included in this comprehensive
sign plan was the stipulation that no additional signs be permitted on the property
unless approved by amending the sign plan.
As the proposed side wall and pylon signage replace existing signage and fall below the
maximum allowable square footage, they would be permitted. To permit the additional
front wall signage, the applicant will need to seek a variance from the City Council and
Planning Commission to amend the comprehensive sign plan.
It is our staffs opinion that the request for front wall signage is not favorable as all
existing signage was approved through variance in October 2000.
