Monday, January 22, 2024
Minutes
Present: Pat Adamski, Leroy Berning, Alanna Lau, Lauryn White, Tim Guimont, Rob
Olson, Terrill James
1.Central Park
1.Playground - We reviewed the updated playground designs from Midwest
Playscapes and Landscape Structures. Overall, we like the design from
Landscape Structures better. Tim will ask Bailey if she can render some
different color combinations in the current design. We are comfortable moving
forward with Landscape Structures.
2.Dugout Shelters - The Baseball Association is asking for 4 brick dugout
shelters. Adam suggested a cantilever design instead, but this will not protect
from the elements quite as much. The committee would like to explore options
of a tin design similar to that of the dugouts at the high school baseball field.
We also discussed asking the Baseball Association for more of a substantial
donation to help cover the costs. Advertising on the dugout was also
discussed. The committee is going to explore more options.
3.Hockey Rink - We discussed the potential of moving the hockey rink, but it
seems as though it is in the best possible spot.
4.Youth Baseball/Softball Advertising - No further updates.
5.Water Feature - We discussed any updates to the possible water feature at
Central Park. The only update was that the Lions could be a possible sponsor.
6.Naming Rights - We discussed selling naming rights to benches and shelters in
the proposed park to help bring down the initial cost of the park. Lauryn is
going to email Rob the price sheet for the council to look over.
2. Other Updates
1.Park Signage - Adam is still working on this.
2.Oakside Park - Basketball/Pickleball - It does not seem as though the
residents around Oakside Park would welcome a change.
3. “Explore Your Parks” - Thursday, May 16
1.Where - The committee discussed hosting at Oakside, Villas, and Winter Parks
2.When - We are planning for a Thursday evening this year in hopes that most
people will be in town. The event will run from 6:00pm - 8:00pm.
3.What - Last year, we had the Foxtailers, the Lions, and the Rotary host and
sponsor. We are planning to ask them again. We will also look into having the
K9, Royalty, and the Balloon Guy back. There will also be hot dogs, chips, and
juice. The Lions will plan on suppling the hot dog boats, napkins, and cups.
Tim will also look into getting the notice in the City Newsletter before end of
January.
4. Open Seat of Committee - Terrill James will be stepping down as a member of this
committee. We discussed advertising the now open spot. Thank you to Terrill for his
service to this committee.
