1995-12-11 CC TNTALBERTVILLE CITY COUNCIL TRUTH IN TAXATION HEARING December 11, 1995 Albertville City Hall 7:00 PM PRESENT: Mayor Mike Potter, Councilmembers Sharon Anderson, Duane Berning, John Vetsch and Curt Muyres, City Administrator Garrison Hale, and City Clerk -Treasurer Linda Houghton Mayor Potter called the Truth in Taxation Hearing for the City of Albertville to order. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the proposed 1996 budget and the tax levy necessary to meet the budgetary needs. Mayor Potter explained that the net increase in taxes on properties within the City of Albertville is 5.995%. Increases varying from that percentage on the tax statements are the result of increased property values. The Council discussed changes in the 1996 budget department by department. The audience was invited to participate in the discussion and ask pertinent questions. Councilmember Muyres further explained that the 1996 budget is a "bare bones" budget and does not provide for financing capital improvements that the City needs to encourage more commercial and industrial growth. Muyres further explained that as the City continues to grow, more City services are required, resulting in increases in budget expenditures. He told the audience riot to expect that taxes will decrease in the future. Anderson made a motion to adjourn the Truth in Taxation Hearing at 8:45 PM. Muyres seconded the motion.
