","'~ j. ,I .~J ,U MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH Division of Environmental Health REPORT ON PLANS Plans and specifications on watermain: Towne Lakes Second Addition, Albertville, Wright County, Minnesota, Plan No. 030619 OWNERSHIP: City of Albertville, c/o Ms. Linda Goeb, Clerk, Albertville City Hall, P.O. Box 9, Albertville, Minnesota 55301-0009 SUBMITTER(S): Westwood Professional Services, Inc., 7599 Anagram Drive, Eden Prairie, Minnesota 55344 Plans Dated: Date Received: August 19,2002 Date Reviewed: August 29,2002 SCOPE: This report covers the design of this project insofar as the safety and sanitary quality of the water for public consumption may be affected, and applies to this project only and not to the entire system or any other part thereof. The examination of plans is based upon the supposition that the data on which the design is based are correct, and that necessary legal authority has been obtained to construct the project. The responsibility for the design of structural features and the efficiency of equipment must be taken by the project designer. Approval is contingent upon satisfactory disposition of any requirements included with this report. Water supply plans are examined with regard to the location, construction and operational features of the design and maintenance of all parts of the system which may affect the safety and sanitary quality of the water. Examination is based on the standards of this department. This project consists of the installation of the following watermains: 1. Approximately 750 lineal feet of 12-inch PVC watermain. 2. Approximately 4,000 lineal feet of 8-inch PVC watermain. REQUlREMENT(S): 1. It is understood that the installation will be in accordance with the more stringent of the previously approved specifications for the city of Albertville, 1998 edition and the previously approved City Engineers Association of Minnesota Watermain Specifications, 1999 edition, except as modified in the Special Provisions. 2. Watermains shall be laid at least 10 feet horizontally from any sanitary sewer, storm sewer or sewer manhole, whenever possible. When local conditions prevent a horizontal separation of 10 feet, a watermain may be laid closer to a storm or sanitary sewer provided that: a. the bottom of the watermain is at least 18 inches above the top of the sewer; or b. where this vertical separation cannot be obtained, the sewer shall be constructed of materials and with joints that are equivalent to watermain standards of construction and shall be pressure tested to assure watertightness prior to backfilling. It is understood that the storm sewer located between 52+20 and 52+75 on Sheet No.3 will be moved to provide either 10 feet of horizontal separation from the watermain or the watermain will be located 18 inches above the storm sewer. Towne Lakes Second Addition Watermain Plan No. 030619 Page 2 August 29, 2002 3. The disinfection of the watermain shall be performed according to AWWA C651. If the tablet or continuous feed methods are used, the completed watermain shall be disinfected for 24 hours with at least 50 ppm available chlorine, with a residual of at least 10 ppm throughout the length of the main at the end of the 24 hour period. 4. The watermain should be pressure tested at 150 psi for at least two hours with not more than a 2 psi pressure drop during the last hour of the test. COMPLIANCE: No construction shall take place except in accordance with the approved plans. If it is desired to make deviations from the approved plans, the State Department of Health should be consulted and approval of the changes obtained before construction is started; otherwise, such construction is installed without proper approval, and in addition may create dangers to public health. Authorization for construction in accordance with the approved plans may be withdrawn if construction is not undertaken within a period of two years. The fact that the plans have been approved does not necessarily mean that recommendations or requirements for change will not be made at some later time when changed conditions, additional information, or advanced knowledge make improvements necessary.
